Overview
Our program is looking for a diverse pool of applicants to create its incoming cohort, reflecting the academic, demographic, and professional interest in conflict resolution. Classroom participation is an integral aspect of the program's educational approach, and incoming students are accepted with the expectation that they will contribute in kind to their fellow classmates' education. As a graduate degree program with an interdisciplinary approach, incoming students are expected to take an active role in their own education -- from using the University's libraries to find required readings, to actively participating in classroom discussions, to providing feedback on the curriculum and program. We expect students to create their own connections between the topics presented and their interest in conflict resolution.
Our program is designed for graduates of accredited institutions of higher education. We strongly believe in an interdisciplinary approach and therefore accept any undergraduate fields or majors from an accredited institute of higher education. In this context, we consider your personal essay to be a major component of the application. It will allow us to learn how you consider the program to fit into your overall professional growth, your added value to the student body, and your leadership and creativity skills. Subsequently, we give preference to those applicants with at least several years' experience after obtaining their first degree, be it academic and/or professional in nature.
Our application process may also include a personal interview - either in person or by virtual media. International applicants who are planning to be in Israel prior to completing their application are strongly advised to schedule an appointment with the International Program in Conflict Resolution and Mediation team while they are in Israel.
Application Deadlines and Wait-list Information
There will be three application deadlines, each of which will have its own timeline for completing an application and sending acceptances. Please note that there is no advantage in applying for one deadline over another, in terms of increasing one's odds of being accepted. Applicants are accepted based on their merits and potential, and not by which application date they have applied.
Here is the admission schedule for the 2013/14 academic year:
Deadline #1: Completed applications due by 16 December 2012, decisions will be sent out by 7 January 2013*.
Deadline #2: Completed applications due by 28 February 2013, decisions will be sent out by 18 March 2013.
Deadline #3: Completed applications due by 31 May 2013, decisions will be sent out by 17 June 2013.
Rolling admissions will follow Deadline #3, until the class is full.
Applicants who have a valid passport from outside North America, Western Europe, or Australia are strongly encouraged to apply for Deadline #1 or #2. Accepted applicants will need to obtain a student visa from the nearest Israeli embassy or consulate before arrival, which can take at least 2-3 months for approval. All applicants should verify if the country which issued their passport allows them travel into Israel.
Only completed application files (ie. those marked ‘Under Review’ in the Admissions Portal) will be forwarded to our Admission Committee for review. Applicants whose file is marked ‘Under Review’ and do not receive an acceptance or rejection letter by their submitted deadline’s schedule will automatically be placed on a waitlist for a decision in the following round. Our Committee will do its best to give priority to waitlisted applicants from the previous deadline.
